The 100 star Marie Avgeropoulos missed the 2018 Teen Choice Awards after being arrested last week for felony domestic violence against her boyfriend.

TMZ first reported the story, which has since been confirmed by other outlets, saying that Marie Avrgeropoulos’s boyfriend dialed 911 on August 5, claiming she ‘had hit him during a verbal argument’.

The outlet cited sources who said that when the police arrived, the man had ‘marks on his body’ and Avgeropoulos was taken to jail.

Who is Marie Avgeropoulos?

Marie Avgeropoulos was born on June 17, 1986 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. 

According to the Net News Ledger, Avgeropoulos studied Broadcast Journalism at Confederation College and got her big break in acting through her drumming skills.

A friend reportedly made her aware of a casting call in Vancouver that was looking for drummers. An agent spotted her there and Avgeropoulos went on to appear in several national advertisements.

She then caught the eye of Harry Potter and The Goonies director Chris Columbus, who cast Avgeropoulos in his 2009 film, I Love You, Beth Cooper.

The following year Avgeropoulos appeared in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and Hunt to Kill. 

Early in her career, Avgeropoulos appeared in TV shows such as Supernatural, Fringe, Human Target and Eureka.

She got her big break in The CW’s hit show The 100, a role she landed shortly after her previous show, The Cult, was cancelled after just seven episodes. 

Avgeropoulos plays Octavia Blake on the show, which is set 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse. Her character is one of the 100 juvenile prisoners sent back to Earth to see if it’s habitable.

The actress has been on the show for five seasons, with the sixth currently filming.

Marvie Avgeropoulos dated Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner between 2013 and 2015, having met on the set of the film Tracers, which was released in 2015.

The actress’s felony domestic violence arrest

On August 5, Marie Avgeropoulos was arrested for felony domestic violence in Los Angeles.

TMZ reports that a man called the police saying his girlfriend hit him during a verbal argument and cites sources who say that when the police arrived, the man had marks on his body.

The outlet says that the boyfriend’s intention was not for the police to arrest Avgeropoulos but rather to defuse the situation, adding that the source said the boyfriend asked the police not to take her away, ultimately bailing her out on $50,000 bond.

TMZ also cites a source close to the actress who claimed that Avgeropoulos was taking new meds and when mixed with wine 'resulted in a bad reaction'. 

It is unclear who the actresses boyfriend is.
